Thanks for checking out Irwin Freelance. I hope we can work together. I’m a lifelong reader and writer – I wrote my first short story when I was eleven – and my favorite storytellers include Michael Crichton, Kim Harrison, Tony Hillerman, J.K. Rowling, Wade Rouse, and Mary Downing Hahn.

I’ve been editing, writing, and consulting in one capacity or another for more than 20 years. I’m a former radio broadcaster, media relations professional, and copywriter. Today, I work with writers to help them become authors: editing manuscripts, fine-tuning proposals and query letters, and assisting with self-promotion. Here are a few services I provide.   • Editing: Memoir to steampunk, young adult to urban fantasy, I’ll help you develop a story that keeps the reader up till 3 a.m. to see “what happens next.” Editing services range from basic proofreading (grammar, punctuation, etc.) to content editing (checking for plot holes, character inconsistencies, loose ends, etc.).
  • Writing: Commercials, video scripts, web site content, news releases, query letters, book proposals, book jacket copy…even ghostwriting your novel or memoir. I can help you save time and provide professional results.
  • Education: One of my favorite things is facilitating group writing projects, providing critiques, and teaching classes and workshops about writing-related topics. If you need a speaker for your writers’ group or conference, let’s talk! Ask about tutoring services and thesis critiques.
